The amount of the toll is different on different roads, but  <\/span><b>the average is around EUR 8 per 100 kilometres<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span> <\/p>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Italy, you can find two types of toll sections &#8211;<\/span><b> closed and open toll system:<\/b><\/p>\n\n<ul>\n<li><b>Open toll system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> requires payment at the first gate and the toll price is based on the total length of the toll section, even if you leave before the end of the section.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><b>Closed toll system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  requires payment at the last toll gate you pass before exiting the toll section. In this case, you only pay for the kilometres you actually drive.  <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Motorway tolls can be charged in Italy<\/span><b> pay<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">  both <strong>cash<\/strong> and <strong>credit cards<\/strong>. Prepaid <strong>Viacard<\/strong> cards are also available for \u20ac25, \u20ac50 or \u20ac75, or the <strong>Telepass<\/strong> automatic payment system, where you just slow down when passing through the toll gate, which records how much you have driven. Maybe it&#8217;s also  <\/span><b>additional payment<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">if you go through the tollgate without paying, which is possible either online or at the next tollgate.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-to-cyan-bluish-gray-gradient-background has-background\"><strong>Tip<\/strong>: Check the prices of motorway stamps and <a href=\"https:\/\/dalnicniznamka.info\/en\/?page_id=967\">tolls in neighbouring countries<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fines<\/h2>\n\n<p>It is <strong>not possible to reverse at toll gates (even on the shoulder) or cross the median strip<\/strong>.
